Thanks being so candid... I've never ...Hey Amy. Thanks being so candid... I've never been able to write like that, even to myself privately. Your strength is stunning.

Ry and I were discussing the concept of "hope" last night, and I think we basically concluded that hope doesn't really exist without darkness/brokenness/chaos/etc. Well, it exists, but isn't apparent or "needed" when we feel like everything is good and safe and taken care of. When we think that we've got it all handled, and nothing could go wrong, we put hope in ourselves. We forget that hope isn't actually about comfort or safety or perfection, but that it is actually an eternal thing beyond all that - hope is about a promise for the future against the real threat to ourselves, beyond the temporary, misleading comforts of our self-created world and the present.

This sounds all very abstract as I write it (which is why I tend not to write), but my point is that you guys nailed it when you chose the name Hope. Being able to acknowledge that you are not able to do it on your own is such a raw and difficult place to arrive, yet is the essence of our relationship with Christ. The prayers of everyone are surely being responded to with a great amount of wisdom, joy, and patience, being given to you guys. It's awesome.

We're praying for you guys
Adam and AnnaAdam Campbellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05451319987051078877noreply@blogger.com
