A Day of Rest

Hope is now 8 months old and today was my first true day of rest.  The only time I've ever spent an entire 24 hours away from Hope, is when I've gotten too sick to be there.  I was able to spend an entire day with Sadie, a day full of relaxing activities and good laughs with a friend.  Today was truly a gift and has encouraged me and given me the strength to continue on this journey.  Shawn had the morning off but spent the evening with Hope.  The weekends are a gift to him as he hardly sees Hope during the week.

As the day comes to an end, I am struck once again by the importance of community.  This weekend has been full of blessings from friends, family and complete strangers.  I drove to the hospital this evening and thought about how we would survive without the support we have.  I was overwhelmed with gratitude for everything our community has done and continues to do.  Thank you.

Not much changed with Hope today.  She is less stuffy and is not acting as though she has a cold, hopefully that has already passed!  She is tolerating her feeds a bit better and appears to be more settled.    Hopefully tomorrow will be another uneventful day with our sweet girls.

  1. Praise God for the little things, moments of laughter and a deserved day of rest. You are one super Mom, loving your family the best you can!

  2. Is Hope maybe teething? Maybe that's why she's stuffy and is acting like she has a cold.

  3. So glad you had a girls day with your precious Sadie and your life line of women:). I hope that you are able to have more Saturdays like this to recharge your body, mind and soul. You are in my thoughts and prayers each and every day. Think how much you have grown over the last 8 months in all areas of your are a much stronger, wiser, empowered woman and full of grace. Praying for a great week ahead without any "silly stuff" from Ms Hope:).

  4. I've been praying for a day like that for you. As a mom of two little ones, I just can't imagine the struggle you balance every day. Praise God for a day of rest and encouragement!

  5. Sweet Amy, I think of you, Shawn, Sadie and Hope everyday and check to see if you have a new status update. My heart aches for the pain you are all going through, especially sweet Hope. My heart also rejoices as I see our Father give you all strength and as I see His body give you support and continue to bring precious Hope through each heart wrenching trial. I'm praying for her health and healing and I know that will bring health and healing to you and your sweet family. Praying blessings and more blessings. You are a strong, wonderful little mama! <3
